Somewhere I also have a black serial cable, but I don't know where that is. The cable I am using is a silver USB to serial (headphone-like jack) link cable. The OS version on my TI-83 Plus SE is 1.16. Is there something else I should try, or is there something special about the TI-83 Plus I'm overlooking? I used to know the ins and outs of my TI-83 Plus SE back in High School, but that was ten years ago. I also own a TI-84 Plus SE and I don't recall having issues with that calculator. I tested with a TI-86 and a TI-92 (with a 92 Plus module) and those calculators were detected without any problems. To rule out the cable itself I tried connecting to a few other TI calculators. I also tried opening the advanced connection settings and explicitly specify what calculator and cable I am using. On my PC it will look for a little while then say that no calculators were found. I tried the same thing on my Windows Desktop but it's not working there either. It keeps searching and never finds the calculator. 4.0 (2)) then try using one of the tools, like TI Device Explorer. On my Mac I plug it into my computer with the silver USB cable. I have been trying to connect with my Macbook Air and my Windows 10 PC desktop. None of the tools, like Device Explorer, are recognizing the calculator. I want to back up all the programs and data to my computer, but it's not being detected by the software. If you've got 10.6.4 then you should contact TI for more help.I am having problems connecting to my TI-83 Plus Silver Edition graphing calculator. I definitely have 10.6.8 so I guess I'll be waiting for the software developers to do their thing. I do apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused." Unfortunately, I do not have an estimated time frame as to when this update may become available. They are working on possible solutions for a possible future update to the software. At this point, our software developers have become aware of an issue with our software and your platform. Since you have Snow Leopard OS I am assuming that you either have 10.6.5 - 10.6.8 OS, if I am incorrect please correct me so that I continue troubleshooting. While we will continue to troubleshoot any issues that may arise I am not able to guarantee that a solution may be available. It was last updated to work with Macintosh 10.6.4 OS. "First, I would like to inform you that Texas Instruments has not tested this software on your platform. I sent TI a message through their website trying to get help on the issue and this is what they said: I bought one for good measure just to make sure I didn't have a bad cable at home. One of the guys from the Geek Squad told me TI's accessory products are not proprietary so it shouldn't matter what cable I used and directed me to the cell phone area for a generic USB-to-mini cable as they did not sell TI cables. Ok, so I went to Best Buy in an attempt to buy a TI cable hoping this would fix the problem. I sought out help from TI for this, and it was concluded that the problem was probably with my MacBook Pro because I am still able to connect to my PC and my friends' Macs, under the same conditions.ĭoes anyone know of a reason for why my TI-84 Plus and/or TI-89 Titanium cannot connect to my new MacBook Pro using the TI Connect X software? I have uninstalled and reinstalled, used different cables, downloaded the software again, and connected to different usb ports, all to no avail. This has happened with both my calculators every time I try. Locate the Downloads drop-down menu and select Apps, Software & Updates. It reads: "Alert - A device was connected, but we could not communicate with it for some reason." Downloading TI Connect software Go to the Texas Instruments website. Only after turning off and then back on my calculator do I get this message: Upon installing TI-Connect and connecting my calculator(s) to the computer, I receive no indication that my calculator is seen by the application. I have connected both calculators to my PC with TI Connect multiple times without a problem to sync programs and rearrange files, but I want to use TI Connect X for Mac to use the new version with a program editor. I use a TI-84 Plus (recently upgraded to version 2.55) and a TI-89 Titanium on a regular basis for school, and I create my own programs for my benefit.
